It's Getting Out of Control.

This is my primary email account. Either I'm going to have to stop associating my blog with this email account—which will probably mean it takes me longer to approve your comments, because this is the one that sends notifications to my phone—or I'm going to have to try out the comment verification form again. Blech.

  1. Most spam comments are made on posts that are older than 7 days. So I enabled comment moderation on posts older than 7 days and they don't come to my e-mail anymore. Then every few days or so I scroll through my moderated comments and make sure there are no real ones and then delete them easily as a batch.

  2. Mine is bad too. I changed my setting to do comment moderation on posts that are over 14 days old. I hope that helps. It was especially annoying because I hardly blogged the last few months of 2012 but I still got a ton of spam comments.

  3. Well, for some reason almost all of the ones I've gotten in the last few days have been on a post that's only a day or two old. I really don't know what the deal is. Maybe I'll wait a few days and see if it dies down (does spam work like that? I don't even know! I really have no idea what is going on) and then I'll change the setting to something like that.

(By the way, make sure you let me know if you comment and it doesn't show up after a day or so... I just rescued both your comments from the spam folder because I've gotten so used to marking them as spam that I didn't even realize I'd done it. :) )
