I'm sleepy

We're at the library right now, and even sitting at a hard table in a fairly uncomfortable chair being cold, I'm sleepy. I haven't been sleeping well, so even though I slept until 9 this morning (after going to bed between 11:30 and 12) I feel very tired. I'm pretty sure I woke up two or three times every hour from about 3:00 on, and I was in pain the whole time, so that should tell you about how restful my sleep was. Not very awesome, and less so because this wasn't the first time and won't be the last.

On the bright side, Mike and I had a fun date night last night. We went out to eat and had an amazing giant cookie sundae for dessert, and we bought a few movies that were on sale at FYE. Then we went to Borders to wait for the movie we were going to go see (Eagle Eye). We decided we didn't feel like going to a movie, though (and that we'd already spent more money than we should've that evening) so we went home and watched The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I'd never seen. Don't worry, it was fantastic, and I added it to my Christmas list today. :) I was disappointed to learn that Alan Rickman isn't actually present in the movie, but I loved this ridiculous robot so much that it was hard to be sad about it for too long.

On another bright side, tonight Mike and I are going over to Wymount to have a pot luck dinner with my cousin Karl, his wife Jessica, and my other cousin Jonathan. I haven't seen either of them in a while--except at my aunt's fireside last month, of course, which was where we set up tonight's funtivities--so I'm looking forward to it.

Have you ever seen Houseboat with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren? I started it yesterday and finished it this morning, and there's a song in it that is slightly ridiculous and also sticks in your head like nothing else. (If you've seen the movie, I guarantee you know what song I'm talking about. Megan sure does.) Anyway, it's stuck in my head and Mike hates it, so he's not terribly amused when I start humming it every few minutes. It's a little funny but it annoys me too because it's not a song I want in my head constantly.

I'm almost done with my giant journal! It's really weird, I feel like I just started this one (it's my second). But I have I think seven or eight pages left at the end, and two or three throughout the book that I planned but have to go back and finish. That sounds like a lot, and it probably will take me a while to finish them, but not because the pages themselves will take a long time. It'll take me a while to get around to them, but once I do it's very likely that I'll finish in a few days. I'll have to grab a new one from Lili before we leave for Christmas. :)

I think that's all I will write for now. I'm considering a nap on the table. Mike and I are sharing a power cord as it is, since we forgot mine at home, so I'm sure he'll appreciate being able to use it uninterrupted. So, until we meet again, I shall leave you with these immortal words.

Ford... I think I'm a sofa.

  1. 1) I'm so glad you discovered the beauty that is Hitchhiker's Guide. You really should read the books, or at least the first one. They're so ridiculous and so funny.
    2) Presto, presto, do your very besto, don't hang back like a shy little kid. You'll be so glad that you did what you did when you do it with a bing bang bong.
    3) If you think that's bad, wait until you see On the Beach. I'm really not kidding about the Waltzing Matilda thing. They play it about 100 times throughout the course of the movie, and it is the catchiest song ever no matter how depressing the movie is.

  3. Mike had already seen it Miki, don't worry. I was the only neglected one. Also, I have no idea what your quote is.

Megan: Thanks a lot. Now it's stuck in my head again. I was reading a Lucille Ball biography earlier so I'd had the I Love Lucy theme in my head, but now it has been replaced, and to be honest I think I prefer I Love Lucy. :)
